"Beauty
that will literally take your breath away"
Over a half year I walked and I hesitated if I should buy this book or
rather not. I knew that this book is for everyone who loves The Hunger Games so
I told myself I will be about nothing. Opposite is true, but I came to it
later. Eventually I walked around this book so long, that I got it from my aunt
when I had name day.
Story is about young Celaena who is best assassin in land. Almost from
her birth she was learned to one goal to be best assassin in the world. She has
always wanted to be fast, quiet, lithe and unobtainable. She made only one mistake. She got
caught. That´s the reason why she´s redeeming penalty in Endovier, dirty, ugly,
salted mines from where is no escape. Whole story begins here, when prince
Dorian give her a chance how to get liberty back. She will represent him in
tournament in which will stand 24 of the worst thieves and killers in this
land. Fight to the death in exchange for freedom, this offer she can´t refuse. But
when hers enemies starts to dye, Celaena will fight not just with them, but
with something magical and mysterious hidden behind castle walls.
Honestly, from beginning I thought that is week copy of THG (The Hunger
Games). I´m glad that opposite is true. There are a lot of books which won´t
get to story, even when you try really hard. We all know this and I bet that
everyone read this type of books even for once. This book to category “boring”
really don´t belongs. You will see, if you read it.
If I had to describe everything that I like on this book, we would be
here for next week. So I will tell just some things because I don’t want to spoil.
Throne of Glass is not like THG. There is no reaping day, they don´t pick every
year 24 kids, because they don´t want people to fear this way. It´s different
fighters are comparing in disciplines, but they can´t hurt each other and they
can´t even think about killing each other. That´s one of those reasons I love
this book. Comparing doesn´t lie in how much enemies you bang over the head but
in how smart you are and how you can take advantage of their capabilities.
If I had to criticize something, it would be style of writing. Book is written
in style of narrative. It´s not like THG when you are in mind of main
character. Eventually it was pretty good change for me.
It´s sci-fi, fantasy
genre with little sence of humor.
When I summarize around THG are pretty good to read, but Throne of Glass
is better. It´s story full of adventures, action, passion and understanding.
If you want to write me about your feelings from this book, leave me a
comment. I will replay as soon as I can.
See you soon,
Yours Katie
